Interview: Author Sean "XLG" Mitchell!

Hi All,

Check out a very compelling interview with the one and only author, writer, community activist, and friend Sean "XLG" Mitchell. @
Sean XLG Mitchell

On this episode we discussed Sean's new book titled, "The African American Spiritual Practice of Seven: Keys To Ka-Maat: A Lifestyle of Faith, Health, Wealth and Power."

Book Deets:
The African American spiritual practice of Seven is the number that symbolizes Ka-Maat. The number seven has a spiritual significance as the human body has seven orifices and seven layers of skin. There are also seven days in a week, seven notes on a musical scale, seven seas and continents. As a spiritual practice, Seven represents the number of characters in Ka-Maat, six letters with a hyphen that adjoins and unifies its meaning. Equally, there are seven letters in African. Therefore, we use Seven and Ka-Maat interchangeably as both refers to the African American spiritual practice. The word Ka, pronounced Kah, is an ancient Egyptian word that means the vital energy which both sustains and creates life. The word Maat, also of Egyptian origin, means truth, justice and rightness. Together, Ka-Maat means energy in harmony with truth and righteousness. As a spiritual practice, it is defined as a lifestyle and a commitment to serving the Creator, along with uplifting ourselves, our family and community through on-going acts of positive thoughts and deeds. The practice of Ka-Maat begins with understanding the correlation of the mind, body and soul. The three components of a being are intended to work in harmony as the engine, tires and a driver successfully operates a vehicle. If one component fails to work it renders all three useless. Therefore, the holistic wellbeing of a person is stressed upon and imperative in the practice of Ka-Maat.

We Love Reading!

Reading is apart of our daily lives. The crazy thing about that is, most if not millions still cannot do it.

In this day and age with so much technology and opportunity, millions should be able to pick up a book and read with no problem.  Sadly millions are lacking in the literacy department and it's killing our society.

We have to do more than what we are doing to help more and more people become literate.

Please do your part and give the gift of reading.

BOOK REVIEW: Alphabet from A to Y with Bonus Letter Z!

DIVA'S HOUSE OF LITERARY COFFEE LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK!!

As I began to read through "Steve Martin's" book, I first thought "wow" this may not be for kids.

However, as kept reading I realized that Martin's take on the classic alphabet story was like no other child story told.

Steve infuses really funny drawings with witty wording in this book. He takes something as classic as the alphabet and turns each letter into something fun and entertaining for kids.

For myself and for others that have read this children's book, it says fun, interesting, and very entertaining for it to be the alphabet.

Thank you to "Steve Martin" and "Roz Chast" for turning our classic alphabet into something fresh and exciting for all to read.

Author Patricia Dean-Escoto Featured!

Today on "Diva's House feat "Literary Diva Of Blogtalk Radio, author Patricia Dean-Escoto was the featured guest.

Patricia joined us in discussing her book; "The Top Ten Superfoods For Preventing Breast Cancer."

It was a very informative and educational show geared toward the hot topic of cancer.

The discussion was invigorating as Patricia talked about the body and how it's ability to heal itself is what all individuals who have breast cancer or may have a great chance of getting breast cancer should believe in.  She went on to talk about preventative measures and what most women should do if they have a chance in getting the disease.

When asked about the naysayers saying "you can't prevent cancer", Patricia shut them down with her response, which you have to listen to the episode to hear!

Patricia's book consist of preventative measures one can take to possibly keep from getting the disease or being infected with the disease again.  It includes a 7 day meal plan with over 40 recipes that one can follow.

The book in itself is one that has opened my eyes as a woman. In chatting with Patricia today, I learned a great deal in preventing cancer, but not only that, I learned a great deal about the food industry as well as everyday products we may use in our daily lives that can possibly contribute to many of us developing cancer.

All in all it was fantastic show!

You can buy Patricia's book on Amazon or where ever books are sold.
